Jakarta Population and Civil Registration Agency Head Denny Wahyu highlighted that his agency acts as a supporting layer in foreign oversight under Immigration coordination. One of its primary tasks is cross-referencing local civil registry data on foreign residents against Immigration databases.
"At a minimum, we are tasked with cross-checking data on foreign nationals living here with Immigration records," he expressed, Friday (9/11).
Dukcapil Seen as Key to Better City PlanningBeyond data matching, the agency verifies foreigners' residential addresses and tracks any changes in their population status. Meanwhile, enforcement against illegal foreign nationals remains strictly under Immigration authority.
"We only manage legal foreign nationals. Supervising illegal foreign residents falls outside our mandate," he explained.
His agency also supports the regional Foreigner Oversight Team (Tim Pora) by issuing Certificates of Residence (SKTT) for holders of Limited Stay Permits (KITAS).
Foreigners holding a KITAS must report to Dukcapil to receive their residence certificates. To enforce this rule, the agency regularly inspects companies and schools hosting foreign staff and students.
Denny noted that his team conducts these inspections five to seven times annually to maintain order in foreign population administration.
"We reach out directly to employers and academic institutions to verify their foreign staff's residence certificates, resolve any issues, and help process their documentation," he closed.
